● Hardware and firmware design for a variety of gas gauging and protection boards for military LiIon batteries, both primary and rechargeable, concentrating on low standby power. In collaboration with Texas Instruments, developed gas gauging architecture and algorithms for a LiMnO2 primary battery. ● Design of a multi-position smart battery charger from power electronics to user and communication interfaces. ● System architecture, hardware (DSP56F)and FPGA (Xilinx Spartan II) design of a test fixture simulating printer and scanner components of a high speed multifunction printing device. ● Lead reverse engineering of an obsoleted Kodak microfilm printer control board. Converted the design to a contemporary component base to guarantee manufacturability of spare boards. (Zilog Z80, 8255, discrete logic). ● Hardware and firmware design for a Handspring Visor barcode scanner imaging module under Palm OS. ● Development kit and and educational robotic demonstration platform design for a semiconductor manufacturer

● Hardware and firmware design for various Xerox printing and finishing device simulators. ● Modified a high speed brushless motor design to accommodate predictive phase shift control for improved efficiency in Kodak high speed paper handlers. ● Designed the FSI E2000 Ethernet demo board, built around an 8 bit microcontroller and a Cirrus Logic CS8900 Ethernet controller. Wrote a simplified TCP/IP stack and demo applications for the board.
