During my time at Mencap, I was employed in three different roles within the Employment Services that had varying degrees of responsibility. After working on many projects that were funded by Jobcentre Plus, Social Services, Learning and Skills Council and the European Social Fund as well as working in different regions including Coventry and Warwickshire, Birmingham, Worcestershire and Bristol; I was promoted to the role of Co-ordinator in late 2009 As a Co-ordinator based in Worcester, I was responsible for operational management and delivery of a locally funded LDDF provision aiming to support young people with a learning disability to gain paid employment and other meaningful training and work placement opportunities. I was also responsible for operational delivery of a special schools work experience programme aimed at pupils with a learning disability aged 16+. I provided operational line management for two job trainers working on both the projects mentioned above in the form of support, guidance and monthly supervisions.

● Working exclusively with individuals who had been claiming employment support allowance from the job centre for over a year. ● Providing 1:1 employability coaching and mentoring support to a case-load of around 60 individuals.

Currently working as a vetting officer within the centralised HR department at OCS. My main responsibilities are related to the screening of new applicants against the ‘British Standard 7858 Security Screening of Individuals Employed in a Security Environment’. I am required to screen applicant's 5 / 10 year employment history to ensure there are no cases of illegal working, benefit fraud or undisclosed criminal convictions. I also make sure all documentation is compliant against the BS7858, liaise with local operations managers to resolve issues with new applicants and related administrative tasks.

I supported four adults with learning disabilities to access the local community and interact as independent individuals. I provided support by action planning, routine development and reinforcement of socially acceptable behavior. Other duties included cooking, cleaning, shopping, budget management for each tenant, some elements of personal care and the administering of individual prescription medication.
