During my 19 years in the corporate sector with Standard Life I experienced many areas of the company. Yet, it was not until I took a secondment to HR in 2013 that i felt I had found my niche. As a true people person I enjoyed the interaction with staff in HR. This lead me to take a change in direction with my career and take up the post of Engagement Officer at The Yard. My role is essentially split into 4 main parts - HR Support, Senior Management Support, Governance Officer & Volunteer Co ordinator. It is a hugely varied workload but it ensures I am never bored as every day is completely different. In my spare time I am Secretary at Winchburgh Bowling Club which allows me to put my governance expertise to good use. I also hold the role of Social Convener. I discovered that my organisational and planning skills can be put to good use in organising community music events. I have had great success and fun with these over the last 18 months.
