In late 2012 Johnson Health Tech, I was promoted to Web Development manager. As manager I introduced the Scrum agile framework to JHT. Doing so increased developer job satisfaction as well as increased stakeholder confidence in timely delivery of planned software increments. As part of this, I taught myself and then slowly introduced the company to concepts foreign to their workflow. I trained the team, and patiently advocated for and trained product owners. Johnson Health Tech hired me in 2012 to lead a newly hired team of developers to create a custom web platform that could be used to provide it’s small business units around the globe with a consistent marketing brand while allowing for nuances in which products/content displayed as well as navigation, layout and more. Starting with a team of 4 and growing to 6 over the course of two years we completed this task creating over 60 websites across several brands for multiple regions and languages. In addition we created a ecommerce platform for integrating with Biztalk/SAP and GEMoney to sell North America’s key retail brands. Acumium, Inc. acquired the GravityMarket Ecommerce platform in late 2008. I was hired to assist the company in adopting this new product and 12 sites currently using it. Among those sites are SteveSpanglerScience.com and Vandykes.com. Responsibilities include tackling difficult projects, mentoring junior developers, spec and scope projects, requirement gathering with clients, and work with third party vendors. Early on I was tasked with setting up internal infrastructure including subversion configuration and assisting in setting up servers to run the application. I also assisted in transitioning the GravityMarket websites from hardware driven servers to Amazon EC2/S3 servers reducing administration costs and improving reliability to clients. To date we have migrated two clients to these new technologies and plan to migrate others. Show less

* In May of 2014 I was hired by Infosec Institute, a tech training company, to build a test engine and learning platform for current and potential students called Skillset.com. Working as the primary developer for the first year, we launched a beta by September. In 2015 I was promoted to Team Lead and assisted in the hiring process creating two teams of developers. I acted as agile coach/scrum master to both of these teams setting up and establishing a consistent workflow. In 2015 I took the lead in adding additional features to Skillset.com. These features included: a peer grading system in which Skillset users answer open ended questions and grade other user responses to those same questions, an adaptive process in question selection where progressively more difficult questions are selected as the user answers correctly, and a subscription service using the Recurly platform.
