The purpose of this effort was to evaluate and recommend a solution to address database scalability and performance while meeting the backup recovery point and recovery time objectives (RPO and RTO).Several, on premise, systems were evaluated through proof-of-concepts (POC) testing: 1) In-house built compute and networking from Cisco, EMC VMAX Storage, EMC Data Domain (with DDBoost) backup appliance2) Oracle Exadata (X7-2 Compute, network & Storage), Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA), and ZFS Storage Appliance3) VCE Vblock (VCE and EMC) with EMC Data Domain (with DDBoost) backup applianceResponsibilities included: 1) POC hardware acquisition, 2) installation and setup, 3) database migrations, and 4) assist application team with performance testing both current production workload as well as data bulking for 5 years of growth.Recommendation: Oracle Exadata X7-2 with 4 compute and 6 Storage Cells.
