As Director of Teaching, I plan, organise and deliver professional learning to both secondary school and K-12 teaching staff aligned to the SACS Teaching & Learning model and strategic school goals. My specialties are embedding formative assessment routines, using data to inform practice, reflection routines with students, streamlining workflow for teaching wellbeing, feedback routines, and gamification in the classroom. Additionally, I have had extensive experience in delivering workshops that help embed authentic Christian teaching in the classroom. This has led to supporting initiatives in student and staff wellbeing through professional learning and observation.In addition to the above, I am an internationall accredited Learning Coach with Growth Coaching International and solutions focused training. These skills are useful in my role as Director for facilitating professional growth conversations with staff. I work with staff in small groups, 1:1 and large scale teams to plan for impactful growth and attainment for all students. I have coached more than 50 teachers and leaders in best practice for teaching and solving complex issues in the classroom and beyond. I have worked alongside the Quality Teaching Team to build a culture of professional observation and reflection through learning walks and deep dives. In addition to this, I liaise with staff to approve internal and external professional development applications and manage this calendar to ensure student support.

I am the foundation Mandarin Chinese teacher; employed in 2015 to implement a new Chinese program at SACS. Over the past 10 years I have built the program from Stage 3 through to Stage 6. I began the IB Mandarin ab initio SL programme in 2016 and the HSC Chinese Continuers programme in 2020. I also teach Music from Years 7 - 10 and have accompanied various ensembles. Within my capacity as a classroom teacher, I have delivered & led professional learning workshops, had extensive experience designing programs, creating resources, and building formative and summative assessments. Teaching responsibilities have included:• Stage 4 & Stage 5 NESA & MYP Music and Language Acquisition (Chinese); • Stage 6 HSC Chinese Continuers & IB Dipoma Mandarin ab initio SL; • Stage 3 Junior School NESA Chinese; • Middle School pastoral care groups; and • Conductor and accompanist for various music ensembles.Achievements• Creator & teacher of IB Schools Alliance IB Mandarion ab initio SL programme (2016-2017)• Regular contributor to Professional Learning @ SACS. This has included writing for the SACS Learning Shared and Tekky Brekky initiatives, CLIP, being a Sydney Learning Festival presenter, facilitator at SACS Research Conversations Conference (2022) and creating Own Choice Professional Learning workshops. • Represented SACS through presenting research including TeachMeets and the SACS Research Conversations Conference (2021). • Producer of The Little Mermaid (2024) and Co-producer of the SACS Musical Wizard of Oz (2017) • Leader & organiser of the inaugural international China Tour (2017)• Member of SACS Staff Wellbeing Committee (2020-2021)

Coaching is an area of education that I am truly passionate about. I have undertaken extensive training in the GROWTH Coaching International Framework, which utilises a goal setting system through thorough and meaningful questioning, goal formation and way of being. I have worked in 1:1 contexts with over 20 staff in my 2 years in the role. I have some experience in group team coaching and leadership coaching, which is an area of my coaching expertise that I am looking forward to growing in the future. This role has required me to listen attentively, ask thought provoking questions, take quality notes, enter and analyse data, and report progression of coachees to key stakeholders. I have had experience with VEO (video enhanced observation) and in person classroom observations. As I grow in my skills, I have received coaching myself and set goals for my practice. I am currently undertaking the EMC Coaching Accreditation process. Some key topics of coaching conversations have included:• formative assessment routines that link to summative assessments;• IB and MYP specific goal setting; • LISC creation and implementation; • use of OneNote in remote learning contexts; • student achievement and data analysis; • Christian teaching in the classroom; and • sustainable work practices

On two occasions as Acting Director of Teaching, I was required to organise and oversee professional learning and teaching administration at SACS. This involved: • organisation of professional learning days for teachers and weekly Wednesday afternoon professional learning workshops; • line management / coaching of middle management staff members; • curation weekly communication with all staff; • liaison with executive staff members about strategic information regarding teaching and NESA/ISTAA accreditation; • supervision of NESA Proficient Teacher and ISTAA Experienced Teacher candidates; and • leadership of the SACS Professional Learning Book Club.

In this role I worked with a team of 5 other Music classroom teachers to continue delivering high quality Music education programs at SACS. This involved overseeing ongoing reflection and innovation of teaching programs for NESA and IB from Stage 4 through to Stage 6, creation of resources, leadership of assessment moderation and creation, evaluation of curriculum, and organisation of student assessment administration across grades. This role also entailed leading my team through the first NSW lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic. I supported my colleagues through implementing sustainable remote learning routines, flipped learning processes, and management of student wellbeing via online learning platforms. Additionally, I implemented regular check ins and faculty meetings to share experiences through that challenging period to support staff wellbeing.

As the Head of Languages, I supported and built a team of 12 language teachers across Japanese, Chinese, French, Spanish & German. A large part of my role was leading the implementation of the IB Middle Years Programme for Language Acquisition, which includes a compulsory language program from Yrs 7 - 10, and continued progression of the Stage 6 HSC and IB Diploma programmes. This required collaboration with staff to create and develop curriculum that fulfilled the registration and evaluation requirements for NESA and the IBO, informed by current educational research. This concurrently involved cultivating authentic Christian teaching opportunities within the language programs to build the Teaching Christianly framework of the school. As a leader I was required to hire and manage high quality teaching staff and external language tutors, support team relationship building, manage a budget, process administrative tasks, use data analysis tools, and report progress to executive staff. In addition to my role, I also acted as the Faculty IT Integrator and supervised over 30 students completing distance language studied via the NSW School of Languages (Open High School).

In my role as a classroom Music teacher, I had the following responsibilities:• Teaching classroom Music from Kindergarten through to Year 10;• Programming and resource creation for Early Stage 1 through to Stage 5 Music; • Implementation of IB Mandarin ab initio SL program; • Music ensemble leadership;• Stage 2 classroom Band Program for flute; and • program preparation and work sample curation for NESA registration

I tutored students of varying abilities in Stage 6 Chinese. This involved teaching the HSC Chinese Beginners & Chinese Continuers courses as well as the IB Mandarin an initio SL & Mandarin B SL courses.

I ran my own sole trader business under the umbrella of the Penrith Conservatorium of Music at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, my responsibilities included:• piano teaching for infant, primary and high school aged students;• teaching of 'Krotchet Kids'; the early childood music appreciation program; and • sole trader business administration

Within these roles, my responsibilities included:• writing applications for NSW State Government grants. This included securing funds for a music program within a local public performing arts school and a youth cultural program for the disengaged youth in the Nepean area. - writing marketing material drafts for the music and drama program at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre;• assistance with music & dance programs with various well known artists including Elena Kats-Chernin and Meryl Tankard; • compilation of a situational analysis of the Penrith Conservatorium of Music with presentation to key stakeholders and board members; and • preparation of documents for meetings with various entities.

I worked as a Mandarin Chinese teacher in the MYP and IB Diploma Programme and taught Stage 4 Music. I also taught Stage 4 & 5 Geography, History, English and Christian Living.

I co-ordinated excursions, events and finances across the Music, Drama, Visual Arts and Dance faculties. I filled in School policy paperwork, processed invoices for payment, collected money for ticket bookings, organised dance and music lessons for students and assisted with the production of events for all faculties.

I co-wrote research reports compiling qualitative data from the music education programs at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music on a casual basis. This involved writing reports, analysing trends in qualitative data and presenting this information for use at the University of Sydney.
