David J. Montgomery is a writer, journalist and critic covering the publishing and spirits industries. He is an emeritus columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and The Daily Beast, and has also written for such publications as the Washington Post, USA Today, Philadelphia Inquirer, Boston Globe and Kansas City Star. He curates Professor Cocktail, a website devoted to cocktails and spirits, and writes Crime Fiction Dossier, a site covering the world of mystery/thriller fiction and publishing. He was formerly the editor of Mystery Ink, a book review site that presented the annual Gumshoe Awards. For the past ten years Mr. Montgomery has also worked for Goldstar, a company that helps people get out more and attend live entertainment. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Economics and Master's degree in History, he taught U.S. History and African American History for six years at Bakersfield College.
