Bekaert produces a wide range of products involving steel wire/strands as well as some specialty applications involving steel which they have grown into. I currently work at their Van Buren, AR facility where they produce steel wire and stranded cables for a large range of applications.I am the project/process engineer for the agricultural department which makes barbed wire, fencing, and miscellaneous small steel products. I generate process improvement projects related to quality and costs, aid in the development/improvement of new products, and identify/develop large capital expenditure project for my department.

I worked as a manufacturing engineer at their Richmond, IN location. I did traditional process engineer work towards improving quality, reducing scrap, and reducing costs as well managing incoming complaints to the area for which I was responsible. I aslo managed various equipment related projects in my area which tied into larger plant initiatives.

Managed daily issues of process conditions, machine operators' needs, equipment problems, process waste, resolving quality complaints, and improving labor efficiency within two manufacturing cells. Involved in long-term plant projects including the implementation of several new product types and utilization of subsequent equipment modifications. As well as the implementation of new polymeric materials in coordination with product engineering and customer requirements.Assisted with Belden's lean initiatives by participating in two kaizans. Implemented set-up wheels and process flow lanes with the goal of achieving daily scheduling. Offered insights into current state of process flow and the feasibility of shifting products from one work center to another. Managed equipment modifications necessary for prescribed product flow changes. Maintained portions of a key performance indicator (KPI) board used to communicate waste and quality issues within the manufacturing cells.

Worked in a team of four to integrate a sequel server into various plant processes while utilizing the server to facilitate process improvement. The project was followed out in ten step format including a final cost savings analysis and results presentation.
