I was Hogan Lovells' Marketing & Business Development (M&BD) Director for their Corporate & Finance Practice Group in the Americas. In addition to my role as head of the Americas Corporate & Finance M&BD team, I was the global M&BD lead for our Capital Markets and Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Insolvency (BRI) practice areas.

I was the Global Senior Business Development Manager for Shearman & Sterling's Corporate Finance and Bank Finance practices.

I managed all business development activities for Shearman & Sterling LLP's Finance; Capital Markets; Financial Restructuring & Insolvency; Corporate Governance; and Compensation, Governance & ERISA practices in the Americas.

Following my second internal promotion at Freshfields, I managed all marketing and business development activities for the US finance and capital markets practices, and also led the firm-wide Mexico Group's marketing and business development efforts. The group comprised partners and associates from various offices and practice groups around the world. My work included, among other elements, creating, implementing and tracking the progress of business plans, overseeing client targeting initiatives, identifying and securing opportunities to increase brand awareness in the US and Mexican markets and creating/maintaining marketing brochures and other collateral.Freshfields is a top-tier global law firm with over 2,600 lawyers, located across 27 offices in 16 countries around the world.

As Senior Business Development Executive, I managed all marketing and business development activities for the firm's Americas project finance practice, as well as for the firm-wide Mexico Group. My work had a particular focus on – but was not limited to – the energy & natural resources and transportation infrastructure sectors. Day-to-day, I handled all of the practices' pitches, responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and submissions to the leading legal publications. I also lead on client targeting, business plan drafting, relationship firm management, and opportunity-spotting for the project finance and Mexico groups. Additionally, I had significant involvement in all of the firm's US-based client events, and also coordinated the global antitrust, competition and trade webinar series. I had been acting in this role since March 2012, with the title formalized in January 2013.

As Business Development Coordinator, I supported all of Freshfields' US practice groups, including project finance; structured finance; tax; corporate; antitrust, competition and trade; litigation; and international arbitration. I managed various client communications and multiple information-tracking databases, and coordinated all US client events. I also assisted in pitch and proposal development, league table submissions and legal publication submissions across all US practices.During my tenure as Coordinator, I focused on building internal relationships with colleagues at all levels across the firm's global network, and on becoming an expert in all available internal resources/systems. Notably, I created and maintained the entire US-wide client contact list (approximately 10,000 entries), along with all sub-lists, which would eventually be implemented into a new firm-wide contact relationship management (CRM) system. I also produced various "best practices" guides for distribution among the US business services teams.

At Dechert, I supported the Firm-wide Practice Group Director, Firm Director of Administration, Financial Services Practice Group Director, and Finance & Real Estate Practice Group Director in their daily operations. I assisted with various marketing events, revised responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), revamped the firm's client coding sheets and assisted with the rollout of – and creation of processes for – the Finance & Real Estate Client Relationship Management project. I also taught myself to update and maintain multiple firm intranet pages, and restructured the document management system for two practice groups.Dechert is a top-tier global law firm with over 900 lawyers in 26 offices around the world.
