SmithKline Beecham is one of the precursor Companies that merged in 2000/01 to form GlaxoSmithKline. I was Regional HR Director for the SB businesses in Middle East & Africa supporting the Regional Vice President and leading the provision of all people related services to 1,300 staff and 4 factories.

As HR business partner to the Regional SVP, I led a team of 9 HR Directors with 60 further local staff providing HR support to GSK operations in 52 countries in Africa and the Middle East.I was responsible for all day-to-day HR activities as well as being involved in business development programmes including strategic capacity investments and mergers/acquisitions.My greatest source of job satisfaction and area of achievement has been the promotion of local talent to meet present and future business needs. Key focus has been on recruiting the best qualified people, investing in leadership development, rigorous performance assessment, thoughtful succession planning and meaningful reward systems.
