I was appointed by the Board of Industry Super Australia in May 2018 to lead the organisation into the next stages of advocating and campaigning on behalf of Industry SuperFunds and their members, with the objective of maximising the retirement savings of five million people.

I have lead collaboration between funds and employer and union bodies to secure positive, member-focussed change to superannuation. Aside from bolstering health of the Industry SuperFunds brand, I have led new campaigns to defend members interests from market-based and political threats. During my time at ISA, community favourability and trust in Industry SuperFunds has hardened.

As the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications for many years Bernie led WorkSafe Victoria’s award winning marketing program to drive down rate and cost of workplace injuries. Bernie later became the General Manager of OHS Strategy, leading collaboration between the regulator, employer and union bodies to develop policy and regulatory solutions to tough problems faced by workers; like asbestos removal, dangerous machines and lifting heavy things.

Responsibility for government and stakeholder engagement including policy development on key areas of OHS regulation and injury claims management.

In addition to leading the Industry SuperFunds marketing campaign I assumed responsibility for additional areas of ISA’s business becoming the Chief Operations Officer, including finance, IT, HR, business and strategic planning, risk management.
