Led the management accounts team for the Service, including producing budgets and monitoring expenditure. Delivered a well received module in the Newly Promoted Inspectors Training Programme. Initiated visits to the frontline for finance staff, to enhance their understanding of the Service.

Providing bespoke coaching and consultancy for individuals, teams and organisations. Specialising in Harrison Assessments and the 4-D System as used by NASA to build high performing teams.

Led the creation of a new team, merging the people team and the communication team. We undertook consultation and actively involved staff in design of the new model, so that activities such as engagement could draw on both skillsets. We enhanced customer service, while reducing the team size by 22%. Other achievements include: Led the creation and implementation of a new communication strategy and business model, including introducing a single pathway for customers to access support, and business partners providing upskilling in the business. Actively contributed to the Finance Transformation Programme, for example running Thinking Environment sessions within my own and wider teams, to support the introduction of the new culture. Led the development of finance profession job families, with learning and development solutions identified for each, to support career development and progression.

Designed an enhanced recruitment and selection approach, which was a finalist in the Civil Service Awards 2007. Developed and introduced a career management framework for the finance community, including career mentoring and coaching. Managed the professional capability strand of the DWP HR organisational design review. Refined the talent approach, with improved accuracy of data and better quality career conversations, resulting in more career development moves, and more targeted development. Assessor for the Civil Service Fast Stream graduate recruitment from 2010 to date.

Created a Learning & Development Strategy for the directorate of approximately 5,000 people. This encouraged different ways of learning. Co-designed the 'Leadership, Engagement & Great Outcomes' programme, which achieved significant increases in participants taking personal responsibility for their development, their self-awareness and their awareness of others' different styles. This programme has been extended, and continues to run successfully. Qualified Person Responsible for Training for ICAEW training. Designed and delivered a well received event 'Developing Your Career Management Plan'. Presented at multiple conferences, including the ICAEW Careers' Advisors Conference and the Government Finance Profession conference.

Introduced a department wide accountancy training scheme. Managed a learning and development project for the Financial Management and Control Directorate, which was then adopted by the Pension Service and the Financial Services Directorate. Reviewed the systems for the control of and delegation of allocations in the Benefits Agency, and recommended improvements. Represented the Benefits Agency Resources Branch in the departmental corporate governance group. Wrote the management accounting sections of the Standing Financial Instructions. Provided the financial support to a review of the corporate services directorate, supporting the downsizing of the corporate centre, to strengthen frontline delivery.

Co-designed and managed delivery of the pilot talent programme for qualified senior managers. Represented the GFP on the cross-sector steering group for the Accountancy and Tax level 4 and level 7 apprenticeship trailblazers.
