In this role, I developed and executed lesson plans designed to engage students in the English language and American culture. The goal was to increase their confidence and ability in speaking. Though I worked largely independently to create my own materials (worksheets, activities, games, etc), I incorporated topic suggestions given by the teachers and the interests shown by the students to ensure all activities were engaging and aligned with their curriculum.

As a fellow, I worked with alongside a primary school English teacher at the Michael Ende Grundschule to enhance English lessons and embed language skills into the wider curriculum. This included assisting in lessons on all topics as well as chaperoning field trips around Berlin and to England. Simultaneously I completed a research project on the construction of remembrance in post-war Germany.

I worked with a group of 15 university first-years, who had been identified as likely to fail and were participating in an Anthropology course. I led hour-long sessions using the information presented in class to improve their academic performance as well as their persistence to graduate.
