Imagine a world where all fishers and farmers have ownership of the stocks they fish, the land they plough, and the platforms that track and trade the food they provide to us. Imagine if the daughter of a fisher or the son of a farmer building the supporting applications are also shareholders in these platforms. This will lead to more equitable and responsible food production and supply chains. At Eachmile, this is our passion and a critical mission. This is one of the greatest challenges of our time – whole chain traceability utilising innovative distributed ledger technology, to incentivise and gain access to the essential first mile. Without this we cannot identify, verify and reward legal and responsible seafood production. We need this data to achieve sustainable seafood production.

Fishcoin is a blockchain based traceability and data ecosystem designed specifically for the global seafood industry. It creates an incentive for data capture in various forms beginning with key data elements captured and communicated by fishermen and fish farmers at the point of harvest for the purpose of traceability. By addressing the critical incentive problem we are effectively creating an ecosystem for rewarding fishermen and supply chain intermediaries through micro- transactions, creating a virtuous cycle (carrot) for sustainable practices that extends beyond government mandates (stick) for traceability.

Our Visionsustainable, responsible and profitable value chains Our Missionharness the power of information and communications technology and build a data driven public-private platform to create real value chains Our Valuesbe good, do goodWe believe that sustainability should not be at the periphery of a business - it should be at its core along with profitability. We believe that for sustainability initiatives to be legitimate that social-economic issues must be addressed simultaneously and all stakeholders engaged in the process. We believe the challenges our oceans face are systemic and require both private and public partnerships. We believe that technology can bring the visibility needed to help manage systems but that control is required to make improvements.
