Strengthening individuals and communities through endorsement and support of Greater Diversity News, HBCU students, HBCU alumni (Divine 9), the National HBCU Association Alumni Foundation, and Black civic organizations and businesses that embrace the value of "Democracy, Diversity, and Inclusion" through the empowerment model of "A Call to Colors."

Osakwe Associates International (OAI), based in Concord, NC, provides services that add value to both public and governmental sectors of the global economy . We have a targeted interest in analyzing the impact of institutions using civic engagement measures externally and diversity and inclusion measures internally. In addition, OAI specializes in assisting with civic engagement and diversity inclusion strategic planning.

OAI provided second tier editorship for Volume I of The Dark Operative Series, "BLACK MAN IN THE CIA"It is the autobiographical account of the founder and president of The Osborne Group (TOG), Leutrell "Mike" Osborne, Sr.'s twenty-eight years CIA case officer career. My services throughout have included web design, research, publishing an e-news letter entitled "The Benjamins," helping plan business roundtables, ensuring the operations division incrementally became more efficient (developing a seamless revenue-generating process), and being a major link in the communications process.A significant part of being with TOG is Mr. Osborne being my business trainer/advisor and mentor. Because of the breadth of his knowledge in business, government and life, my company continues to benefit and become more streamilined.

Taught American History, World Civilizations and Western Civilization at the main campus and to Fort Bragg soldiers at various battalion locations to accommodate their war preparedness interruption of academics.

Under the Governor's Office on Civic Affairs, NCCU had oversight for developing a clearinghouse of community service and service learning resources accessible to the public.Responsibilities included creating a website repository of as much information as possible concerning the state's volunteer, community service, and service learning resources. Physical space was set aside at the offices of the university's Academic Community Service Learning Program to accommodate visitors wanting more information on our program, local and state resources, volunteer opportunities and much more.Additional responsibilities included the creation of a statewide visionary Advisory Board to assist in revenue generation, funding beyond state support and planned growth; visiting each of the state's 100 counties to assess volunteer/community service programs, agencies and get their support on many levels of clearinghouse ownership, value, and sustainability.The creation of a complex database was critical to cross-referencing all information and evaluation of the project and was spearheaded by two excellent graduate assistants from the appropriate department.

Taught ABE courses available for adults who were at least 18 years of age and wished to improve their reading, writing, and math skills. ABE students perform below the high school level on placement tests. Adult Basic Education courses are designed to prepare students to move into the Adult High School Diploma (AHSD) or High School Equivalency (GED) programs.

Facilitated the then Student Community Service Program becoming more technologically efficient by getting all offices of the program online, integrated with university technology services and placed among the highest priorities of academic goals and objectives, since community service hours was a requirement for students before graduation. In essence, ensured that the Information Systems department did what was necessary to computerize input and maintenance of student volunteer/community service records. Helped coordinate and facilitate community outreach events for participating host organizations and the public and university administration, faculty and staff. Wrote a volunteer manual and helped design necessary operational forms. Major responsibilities included devising and implementing a marketing plan that encouraged university faculty to modify their curricula to include modules that helped facilitate transferring classroom theory to practice, by students, with community organizations and agencies.Taught service learning concepts to all students.Attended conferences, other service learning institutions, volunteer service organizations, and community events to share and enhance knowledge of "best practices" in the field of service learning.

Conducted Pre- and post academic testing to determine whether corps members, ranging in age from 17-21, would enter a GED (high school equivalency diploma/certificate) or AHSD (Adult High School Diploma) curriculum. In either area of study, determined by Durham Technical Community College, classes were organized and assessed through IEPs with intense oversight of each student's progress. Students could not move to the next level of curricula requirements until mastering of material was achieved and measured in each required course. GED and AHSD curricula were entirely different. It was my responsibility to ensure that the entire educational aspect of DSC was effective, efficient and student centric--leading to the greatest number of successful AHSD graduates and GED acquisitions.

Assisted History Department Chair, faculty other instructional staff by performing teaching or teaching-related duties, such as teaching lower level courses, developing teaching materials, preparing and giving examinations, and grading examinations or papers while attending graduate school. Graduate assistants who primarily perform non-teaching duties.

Under the School of Library and Information Sciences (SLIS) Dean, Dr. Ben Speller, and direct supervision of the Director of North Carolina Center for the Study of Black History, Dr. Doris Terry Williams, I assisted in the organization of one of the two special collections of SLIS.One year before my arrival at NCCU, the School (SLIS) established an African American Resources program in 1991, which included the William Tucker Collection of African American authors and illustrators of children’s materials, and the North Carolina Center for the Study of Black History, an archival collection of civil rights and African American economic and social developments in the southeastern U.S.. This program (in which I worked), supported teaching, research, and outreach services, and was located in the new (at that time) Hayti Heritage Center of Durham.Major responsibility was to ensure that all materials were maintained at the highest levels of archival integrity as possible under the conditions of that time. All materials were unpublished and not accessible to the public.The major collection of my responsibility was the Floyd B. McKissick Papers, 1940s-1980s, now housed in the Southern Historical Collection, UNC-Chapel Hill.

Responsibilities included providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher, and performing other reasonably related duties that may have been assigned.Requested assignments with and aligned within the cultures of high achieving school environments with high academic standards.Substituting offered flexible scheduling, exciting and challenging classroom opportunities, and different environments to find the ones I preferred.Substituted in grade levels: Elementary, Middle and High. However, most assignments were with Hillside High School per my request.

As Fire Control Technician (FT), maintained the control mechanism used in weapons systems on combat ships. Required to learn to operate, troubleshoot and maintenance complex electronic, electrical and hydraulic equipment to ensure the accuracy of Navy guided gunfire-control systems. Also responsible for the operation, routine care and repair of this equipment, which includes radars, computers, weapons direction equipment, target designation systems, gyroscopes and rangefinders. The rating is now designated for submarine duty and this position isnow referred to as Fire Controlman.
