As chair of governors for a small primary school I lead the governing body, effectively organising the work and managing the relationships with the school leadership team and the local authority which enable the governing body to provide strategic direction and act as a "critical friend" and ensuring accountability for standards. I am a parent governor with a special interest in IT. I have moved the school to Google Apps for Education to provide a secure collaboration platform for use across the school. This is work in progress and will encompass everything from email to the school calendar to document management. I have also deployed a new Ubiquity UniFi network through the school as a cost effective WLAN solution to support deployment of chromebooks throughout the school. I led the recruitment of a new head teacher, shortlisting and interviewing an interesting selection of candidates for a shared position before appointing the current incumbent, who, with their co-head is leading the school successfully and efficiently.
