Lionheart Camp for Kids Overview

Lionheart supports children, teens, parents, extended family members and schools to integrate grief into their lives in healthy and safe ways. We work closely with anyone who is supporting a child or young person in their grief. Our Lionheart community provides families the opportunity to connect with others who understand what it is like to experience grief. Our programs bring families with shared experiences together, creating a connected, compassionate and caring community where grief is seen as a natural, healthy and normal response to loss. Our Lionheart Grief Pathway supports the whole family, including extended family members, and schools, as young people adjust to the diagnosis of a terminal illness for themselves or someone in their family or following the unexpected death of a loved one. Lionheart Camps, New Families Camp and Returning Families Camp, normalise the experience of grief through psychoeducation and peer connection. Working with children, teens and adults in the same place at the same time offers a unique opportunity to connect, communicate and make sustainable positive change in a family. Check out our programs, Lionheart Grief Pathway , Grief Camps, DRUMBEAT and Lionheart Lounge as well as our annual memorial service on Children's Grief Awareness Day, the third Thursday in November.. At Lionheart, children meet other children who have experienced the death of a loved one, in a safe space, moderated by health professionals, purposely designed for them to learn, explore, practice, and integrate their grief into their life. The Lionheart team are also passionate about research and partner with Curtin University to keep learning about how grief impacts childhood, and, strive to minimise the negative long-term life outcomes associated with grief and bereavement. Together with our skilled and professional staff, and our compassionate and trained volunteers, at Lionheart, no child grieves alone.
