A private technological school in the northeast part of the state, Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) offers high-ranking, research-based undergraduate and graduate academics. Located in Melbourne, Florida, FIT has been ranked by such publications as Forbes and U.S. News as a top-tier university. FIT awards undergraduate degrees in engineering, science, aeronautics, business, psychology, math, communications, education and humanities. FIT also offers master’s degrees in these fields and several others. Research is a central part of undergraduate and graduate study. Research activities are done in collaboration with state and local organizations and include work in such areas as marine life, alternative fuels and energy, particle physics and aeronautics. Undergraduate admission is based on one’s transcripts, standardized test scores and personal essay. Each graduate program has its own admission requirements. Tuition may be covered in part or in full through financial aid offerings such as Pell grants and federal loans, which are available to eligible students.
